Description Habitat: Sandy or gravelly soils in open areas, meadows, woodlands and roadsides.
Plant: Prostrate, mat-forming annual; slender, branched stems up to 32 inches long.
Leaves: Alternate palmately-compound leaves with 4 linear to narrowly elliptic leaflets that are about 1-inch long.
Inflorescence: Small yellow pea-like flowers in elongated spikes up to 6 inches long; each flower about 1/2-inch tall and enveloped by hairy, green ovate-shaped bracts.
Bloom Period: June to September.
